COLBY CLASSIC ICE FISHING DERBY:
Ceci Martin is once again chair of this year's derby. She will need volunteers to collect door prizes and bucket raffle items for the event. She will also be looking for help to work at the registration table and also people to man the fish weigh-in. I've worked this event in the past and must say that it's a lot of fun. I especially like to weigh in the fish for the competitors. I am urging anyone who wants to have a good time to volunteer for this event. Call Ceci at 518-637-9392 or me at 518-891-5989 to sign up to work. Or just show up at the next regular club meeting.
The “Critter Dinner” was held on February 21st and was attended by about 34 members and their families. Some of the “Critter” dishes were Elk steak, venison stew, venison chili, potato salad, ziti casserole, pumpkin pie, Barb Granish's giant cookies and a lots of other goodies. This is really a great Pot Luck Supper and there have been suggestion to hold more than one a year. We'll see. The prizes for the Trudeau Big Buck were handed out after the meal and four new life members were announced. Those receiving the prestigious Life Membership status were Al Nassan, Theresa Trudell (first female lifer), Claude Premo and Dave Bodah.
10 GUN RAFFLE:
The guns have been selected for this year's raffle. Tickets will be available later on in March. Watch for a list of the guns on our web page or the members only Facebook page. I encourage everyone to sign up for the FB page. It's a great way to keep current on club activities and post your pics and comments.
We are going to have our Summer Gun Show on July 19 and 20 this year. There will be no Masonic Flea Market to go along with it. If any of you members want to set up “Yard Sale “ tables on the range area you are welcome to.
Welcome new and returning members! Justin Pallack, Austin Warner, Alfred Parker, John Duprey, William Schmeider, Travis Winthers, Donald Begbie, and Matthew Warner
Sporterifle is an activity that is open to members and non-members alike. The season wrapped up on February 24th . We will be practicing on Monday evenings between now and September. Come on to the club and shoot with us. We are always looking for new shooters. Please call team captain Charlie Marshall at 891-6018 or email him at email@example.com for more info.
We are having a work day on April 26th. Hopefully we will get to do some outside cleaning. We will be upgrading the florescent fixtures in the club to T8s. We may also be installing a central vac system.
S.A.F.E. ACT UPDATE:
There will be a Rally in Albany on April 1, 2014 to demand repeal of the (Un) S.A.F.E. Act. It is organized by the New York Rifle and Pistol Association and S.C.O.P.E. I encourage all of you to attend if you can to send a message to Prince Cuomo that we do not like his trampling on the U.S. Constitution that he swore to uphold. April 15th is the last day to register your “assault rifles”. I would suggest civil disobedience regarding this edict. They are already sending in SWAT teams in to confiscate registered firearms in California. Kinda like Nazi Germany in the 1930's.
There is a new vets group in the area called Homeward Bound Adirondacks. Their office is located in the Prescott House, 129 Franklin Ave., Saranac Lake, NY 12983. Charlie Jessie can provide you with info or you can call the office at 518-891-4151. The website is www.hbadk.org .

When is Global Warming kicking in?
Hello - I am writing to you to inform you that the Saranac Lake Fish and Game Club (SLFGC) has established a FACEBOOK page (FBp) presence.
What does this mean and how
does it affect you?
The FBp will allow you to receive SLFGC updates, see future schedule of events and read announcements. More for your benefit, you can post information, post questions and answers and/or concerns. There are several good features to the FBp and you have the option to take part very actively or just view what you wish to view.
We, with your activity, can make this this a very interactive group. Also, there is the opportunity to post your pictures and movies, make comments and connect with other members. Your shooting, fishing and hunting photos will surely make this group very interesting. Do not hesitate to post your pictures or movies.
This is a CLOSED group. This means that only Fish and Game Club members will be allowed to see and make posts. Non-members will only see the main page and the members. If a viewer wishes to join, they must first join the SLFGC and then will be allowed to join the FB page. Current members that are interested in joining the FBp must first click on the following link:
Once on the FBp, click on "Join Group" on the
right hand side of the page. This will send a message to an
administrator who will authenticate the request and if valid, the new FB
member will have access to the entire page.
If you have any questions, concerns or need some assistance, please contact me via email and I will be more than happy to assist you.
