Attention! Please lock the gate for the rest of the Summer/Fall seasons...EXCEPT on Sunday night for trash pickup on Monday.
10 GUN RAFFLE PICNIC:
It's only about a couple of days until the picnic! We are looking for some help in the kitchen and some people to work the gate and direct the parking. The committee chairs are Dave Bodah and Theresa Trudell. Please contact us if you want to help out. This is the club's biggest fund raiser for the year and if you would like tickets to sell to your friends please contact Claude @ 518-891-3580 or Dave @ 518-891-5989 or Theresa @ 518-891-4505. The picnic and ticket drawing this year is on September 6th from Noon to 4 PM. There will be Chinese auction items and two 50/50 raffles. I hope to see a lot of you there for the festivities.
GUN SHOW:
I want to thank Al and all those who made this event a success time and time again. Also Al told me he is retiring from the gun show business and that he will help whoever his successor is to organize and put on a good show. If you are interested in being the event chair of the Gun Show please contact me djbodah@gmail.com or Al at 518-201-4018. If no one steps up and takes on this project there will be no more guns shows at the club.
TRAP SHOOTING:
Thank you C.C. for taking over the trap program. I want to thank Steve Lane for trimming the bushes down near the river. We have put a few new and some old safety measures in place. There are still a few weeks of shooting to be had so come on over and show the clay birds how to turn into dust!

SPORTERIFLE

S.A.F.E. ACT UPDATE:
There is a very important election coming up in November. I'm talking about the office of governor of NYS. Our local representative and senator slots will also be on the ballot. If you are not registered to vote you can register on line at: http://www.elections.ny.gov/NYSBOE/download/voting/voteform.pdf We need to get good people into office.
If you are not currently registered please do register and vote. If you don't have Internet access please contact me, Dave Bodah, at 518-891-5989, and I will send you a form and a stamp.
VETERAN'S CORNER:
The Homeward Bound vets group will be meeting at the club on Sunday nights from about 6 PM to 8 PM. Their office is currently located above the Blue Line Sports Shop on Main St. in Saranac Lake. Charlie Jessie can provide you with info or you can call the office at 518-891-4151. The website is www.hbadk.org.
SHARPENING SERVICE OFFERED:
Robert Knobel is a member who has a sharpening service and is able to sharpen almost any metal that will hold an edge including Hunting/Sporting Knives and Kitchen Knives. He charges $20/hr, with half of the proceeds going to the Saranac Lake Fish and Game Club. Time is figured on a timer and free pick up and delivery is offered. If you would like to tune up your edged items give Robert a call at 615-710-0541.
FOR SALE:
The club has for sale a few items that were going to be used for the point well system. These are virtually new:
- A jet pump.
- A stainless steel point.
- Two vintage Pepsi coolers in working condition.

S.C.O.P.E NEWS:
We have new Repeal the SAFE ACT and GET OUT AND VOTE yard signs for sale. If you want one they are available from Garry Hoffman judgegarry@hotmail.com or from me. A big Thanks to the Franklin Co. Federation of Fish and Game Clubs for letting SCOPE set up a table in the Federation building at the Franklin Co. Fair. Some new members were acquired, information was given out and yard signs were sold. Garry also went to the Essex Co. Fair and had a lot of success there.
CLUB BEAUTIFICATION:
Thanks to Bob Brown we now have a stunning, freshly painted gate just in time for the 10 Gun Picnic!
MEMORIAL SERVICE:
There will be a Memorial service for Claude Pierce Johnson at the North Elba Cemetary on Old Military Rd. in Lake Placid. It will be at 10 AM on Saturday September 27th . The American Legion will conduct a brief ceremony. Pierce was very instrumental in promoting and helping with all the Friends of the NRA dinner fund raisers both in the Tri-Lakes and Plattsbrgh. Please plan to attend if you can.

FACEBOOK PAGE ANNOUNCEMENT
Hello - I am writing to you to inform you that the Saranac Lake Fish and Game Club (SLFGC) has established a FACEBOOK page (FBp) presence. What does this mean and how does it affect you?
The FBp will allow you to receive SLFGC updates, see future schedule of events and read announcements. More for your benefit, you can post information, post questions and answers and/or concerns. There are several good features to the FBp and you have the option to take part very actively or just view what you wish to view. We, with your activity, can make this this a very interactive group. Also, there is the opportunity to post your pictures and movies, make comments and connect with other members. Your shooting, fishing and hunting photos will surely make this group very interesting. Do not hesitate to post your pictures or movies. This is a CLOSED group. This means that only Fish and Game Club members will be allowed to see and make posts. Non-members will only see the main page and the members. If a viewer wishes to join, they must first join the SLFGC and then will be allowed to join the FB page. Current members that are interested in joining the FBp must first click on the following link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/SARANAC.LAKE.FISH.GAME Once on the FBp, click on "Join Group" on the right hand side of the page. This will send a message to an administrator who will authenticate the request and if valid, the new FB member will have access to the entire page.
